Reclaim Your Recovery Balance

It is terrifying to be in the grip of a substance use disorder (alcoholism and/or addiction). It is also horrifying and paralyzing to watch a loved one self-destruct in this way and to feel powerless to help.

I get it.

I have been on both sides of this fearful spectrum.

I have a 46 year history of dealing with afflicted family members and trying desperately to help them. I vowed never to become an addict or alcoholic like others around me. Then, as a successful surgeon, I became addicted to opioids, followed by alcohol. I hit rock bottom and lost everything and everyone important to me. 

Now, throughout my own long-term recovery, I have facilitated many acute interventions for others who have gone on to successful recovery.  As a licensed clinician, I know what works and I also know the traps that enable the destructive cycle to continue - from my own direct experience!
